We all love being a couch potato, but this is not about sitting on a dirty couch. Over time, sticks, spilled soda, pet hair, dirt, and oil from your hands and feet will form and shine on your couch. Until a spillage occurs or a mysterious stain appears, we easily forget about cleaning our upholstery.

However, common cleaners often contain toxic chemicals, which are hazardous to their user and the environment. Therefore, consumers are turning to less harmful cleaning products. This is the reason here we came with the natural cleaning hacks.

Upholstery Stain Remover

  • 2/3 cup rubbing alcohol
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar

Mix the ingredients in a spray bottle. Spray the fabric surface generously with detergent and let it rest for 1 to 2 minutes. Rub vigorously with a clean sponge or towel and let dry. Repeat if necessary.

This mixture helps in removing paint and ink stains.

General Upholstery Cleaner

  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup white vinegar
  • ½ Tbsp natural dish soap

Mix cleaner in a spray bottle and spray it on the surface. Leave to rest for a few minutes. Brush lightly in a circular motion. Spray with water and vacuum.

Leather Upholstery

Leather Upholstery Cleaning DIY

  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar

Shake the bottle vigorously to mix the two ingredients. Spray on the leather surface. Rub with a soft cloth and reapply if necessary to remove dirt, fingerprints, and oil. The vinegar cleans the surface and then evaporates. Polish the leather with the dry part of your cloth until the olive oil is evenly absorbed by the leather, and soften it.

Synthetic Upholstery

  •  1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1 cup of warm water

Mix the ingredients in a spray bottle. Sprinkle on the stained areas lightly. Scrub the dirty areas in a circular motion with a soft, lint-free cloth until it removes the dirt, repeat if required.
