How to Correctly Clean Your Area Rug?

A neat and clean rug will increase the style and comfort of your home. However, area rugs especially in high-traffic areas are usually exposed to wear and tear on a daily basis. They accumulate dust, dirt, and odor due to smoke, pet accidents, and spills. If you clean your area rug properly on daily basis will prolong the life of your rug.

Carpet cleaning for a delicate area rug

Carpet cleaners are frequently mistaken for area rug cleaners. However, the steps of carpet cleaning are completely different than the area rug cleaning. Carpet cleaners visit your home and steam clean your area rug. They use cleaning agents with harsh chemicals, which leads to discoloration. The carpeting flooring under the area rug can be damaged in the process, not only due to possible discoloration from bleeding dyes but also from the dampness and humidity of a wet rug. This process is standard for synthetic wall-to-wall carpeting but is not appropriate and is often damaging to delicate, handmade, and natural fiber rugs, such as wool and silk.

DIY- Area Rug Cleaning

Some of the owners take their area rugs outdoors and then power wash them, some wash them using a garden hose and shampoo. This technique is not recommended for area rug cleaning because it may result in irreparable damage. Also, we do not recommend the spot cleaning of area rugs using store-bought carpet shampoo and detergents. These harsh chemical cleaners are designed for wall-to-wall carpeting with synthetic fibers and are not designed for natural fiber rugs. Area rugs have rich dyes that may easily bleed and discolor not only the rug itself but also the floor underneath.

Professional area rug cleaning

Regular cleaning of the area rug is very important and most important is to clean it with care so it doesn’t get damaged. An improper cleaning technique can ruin your area rug, all in all ruining your investment. To keep your attractive area rug healthy for a long time, call your professional area rug cleaners. They take time to analyze your rug and determine which cleaning process would work best.

The process that professionals follow

Professional area rug cleaners visit your home to inspect the rug. They analyze the fibers, dyes, and condition of the rug to decide the proper cleaning method. They take time to answer the questions and give an estimate for the proposed work. Once you are satisfied with the information, your rug is taken to a dedicated facility where the cleaning process is started with dusting to remove the dirt and small particles. Your rug is hand cleaned and gently rinsed to avoid color runs.

Similar to the washing process. Some rugs are hung to dry naturally, while others are dried flat. No chemicals are used to wash or dry the area rug. After vacuuming and grooming the rug again, there is a final inspection done to make sure the result is satisfactory. If they are not, the process is repeated again. Once the area rug is looking and smelling great, the area rug is then delivered back to the owner

When to Consider Air Duct Cleaning?

Occasionally people ask,” Should I have my air ducts cleaned, or is it a fraud? “

Air duct cleaning is a home maintenance service provided by some companies, with the promise of cleaner air and better system efficiency.

However, does air duct cleaning really deliver these results?

Here is some information to help you decide whether your home might benefit from having the air ducts in your house cleaned.

SHOULD I HAVE THEM CLEANED?

There is evidence that dirty heating and cooling coils, motors, and handling units will make your ventilation system less efficient. Even though some people insist on it, there is no medical review research at present that routine duct cleaning improves air quality, or reduces dust in your home. Checking the air ducts can help identify specific problems that may keep your ventilation system running more efficiently, however.

WHEN TO CONSIDER AIR DUCT CLEANING

Two main concerns of some homeowners who consider this service are large amounts of dust or large obstructions in the ductwork.

The easier it is for the air to flow through the air ducts, the easier it is for the system to deliver the air to the living spaces.

Major blockages that slow airflow will likely cost more over time. There are some specific signs to determine if air duct cleaning is necessary:

  • Mold Infestation – When a moldy odor is coming from your ventilation system, you may need an air duct-cleaning technician to inspect the ducts. Trapped moisture causes mold to develop, and may damage the system. Any type of mold should be treated seriously.
  • Duct Obstruction – When significant amounts of dust and debris are noticed within the ductwork, this may be a sign that it is time to consider thorough air duct cleaning.
  • Unexplained Allergy-Related Illness – If a family member is suffering from an allergy-related illness, and every other precaution has been taken to decontaminate your home, you may want to think about having the ducts cleaned.
  • Insect Bodies – If there are bodies of insects or droppings from rodents in the air ducts, this is a sure sign that they should be cleaned. These by-products will likely circulate in the air of your home. This could also be a sign that insects have nested or they are living inside the air ducts.

WILL AIR DUCT CLEANING BENEFIT ME?

If dust and debris are significantly blocking the air ducts in your home, there may be other issues affecting the performance of your ventilation system. For instance, if the air filter is heavily clogged, there is a very good chance that the system has to work much harder than it works normally, to maintain a normal temperature. When the air duct is clean, it does not have to work as hard to maintain the temperature you desire. As a result, less energy is used, leading to improved cost-effectiveness. Air duct cleaning also benefits from indoor air quality, which is a very important part of the house.

Top Three Reasons for Tile & Grout Cleaning

Tiles are generally placed in wet areas such as laundry, bathrooms, kitchens, and eating-place. These areas are often high-traffic areas in damp and/or humid environment. Which creates a perfect breeding ground home to ever-growing and evolving mildew, mold, and even bacteria.

These can evolve into mold-based bacteria that can contribute to respiratory problems, and digestive issues if transferred into the body, and contribute to many more diseases that are common.

Therefore, here are the top three reasons for tile and grout cleaning.

ONE: Clean Tile and Grout is Better for Your Family’s Health

The tiles in your home and the grout surrounding each tile, inhabit a world of nasty bacteria brought in by dirt, grease, and stains. Regular bathroom cleaning may minimize surface dirt and germs, yet the dirt and germs are difficult to remove from the grout itself.

The porous nature of grout means that it easily collects bacteria and germs, making your floors unsanitary unless they get cleaned often and correctly. This increases health hazards, affecting those with respiratory problems, and allergies, and leaves the body open to many other problems. The dirt and germs trapped in the grout alone will emit odors and create unhealthy air quality, especially in wet and humid areas.

Professionally cleaned tile and grout are especially important if you have crawling babies or toddlers who play on the floor, or if anyone in your home has allergies, asthma, or respiratory issues. Keeping your tile and grout free of germs is an important part of any healthy home’s maintenance and cleaning plan.

Top Three Reasons for Tile & Grout Cleaning

TWO: Longevity and Appearance:

A deep professional clean will always enhance the appearance of the flooring and especially with a tiled surface. The dirt that gets trapped in the grout discolors the appearance and the reflection of the light is reduced, causing a dull look.

Having your tile floors and grout professionally cleaned on a regular basis will keep them looking fresh, bright, and new, which can make your entire home look and feel much nicer. If neglected, the dust, dirt, and other contaminants that stain tiles and grout can weaken the integrity of your floors.

They will begin to discolor, fade, crack, lose their luster and shine, and generally wear down much more quickly than they would if they had been cleaned on a regular basis. Since your floors will look much newer and fresher, you may be able to put off that costly tile floor replacement you have been thinking about

THREE: Save Time & Money:

When homeowners attempt to clean their tile and grout themselves, they will likely be disappointed by lackluster results, leading to attempts with increasingly harsh chemicals and cleaners that are more abrasive. Unfortunately, this can do lasting damage to your floors and grout.

A professional tile and grout clean will ensure a deep and sanitized finish and save you time on attempting a deep clean and indeed save you money without those over-marketed cleaning solutions.

Many seek a sealant for their tiled flooring, however, in our experience, this becomes quite costly and is prone to cracking, and can cause your tiles to appear patchy. Usually this results in the removal of the sealant, the tiles cleaned and then resealed again, and costs you much more.

To avoid this hassle and cost over time, it is best to book a regular professional tile & grout clean and stick to a weekly mop with some white vinegar, to maintain your tile and grout between cleans.

We recommend a professional tile and grout cleaning at least twice a year at a minimum for households. Professional cleaners have access to more effective cleaning tools and techniques that do an amazing job without causing any damage to your tile or grout.

If you are unsure as to the professional cleaning regime your household or business requires, call the professionals at My Cleaner, Inc. Cape Coral. We will get your floors and grout sparkling clean and help come up with a regular cleaning schedule to keep them that way.

Do you find difficulty in Cleaning Upholstery Furniture?

Everyone finds difficulty in cleaning upholstery furniture. Furniture is one of the important investments you have done in your home. That piece of furniture means something to you. Maybe it is brand spanking new or not but was a big investment done by you at that time or it’s an antique that you are preserving. Because it has personal attachments or sentimental values.

It could be very annoying when a small spot or spill can destroy a valuable piece of furniture in just a couple of seconds.

Spills and stains occur, no matter how many precautions you take. However, luckily it is possible to remove some of the grimes from furniture safely and without damaging it.

I have few rules. If you follow these rules when you are dealing with the stains, your furniture will thank you later by giving luxury comfort.

Let’s go, here are my tips that will help you in the cleaning and stain removal process.

Pre-cautions:

If your furniture upholstery is not water-resistant, stains can soak deep into the cushions making it even harder to clean. In addition, the lighter the fabric, the harder the stain.

  1. Soak the liquid as much as possible.
  2. Never scrub! If you do this, you are going to invite a huge mess. Blot or dab at it to soak up the liquid.
  3. Respond to stains and spills as soon as possible. The longer time a stain gets to settle, the harder it becomes to remove.
  4. Use a small number of cleaning solutions and then add more as needed.
  5. Saturating the fabric with a cleaning solution can damage your carpet. Excess liquid will embed the stain further into the fabric and cause mold and mildew to grow.

Removing debris and pet hairs:

Use a hand vacuum and do regular cleaning. By attaching a crevice attachment or a lint roller, it will easily pick up debris and pet hairs from your furniture.

Removing Ink Stains:

Spray with hairspray and then use a napkin or a paper towel and dab the stain until it’s removed. Repeat the process until the stain is lifted.

Removing Blood Stains:

The same technique can be used to remove blood stains like ink stains.

Next, you can do is, grab a steam cleaner, filled with cold water and a little amount of shampoo and start sucking up the stains.

“You might have a big question in your mind using COLD water in upholstery cleaning?  Yes, using cold water is key when it comes to removing blood. Using hot water to remove blood stains will cook the blood and make it just impossible to remove completely.

Removing Wine Stains

Pour some club soda on the affected area and start dabbing it with a clean cloth or a paper towel. Take a follow-up by using steam cleaning using the mixture of cold water and shampoo.

Heavy-Duty Stains

Pour medicinal strength hydrogen peroxide directly on the stain and start blotting it. Hydrogen peroxide is color-safe, so there is no chance of carpet damage like the bleaching effect.

Maintaining an upholstery:

Furniture’s are the important assets of the house and you have invested a huge amount to bring that piece at home. Bringing them is good, it enhances the appeal of the house but it also requires time-to-time cleaning to maintain its look.

Furniture needs to be maintained on a regular basis, even when there is no stain calling over it. This may seem like a hassle, but the good news is that it is a job, that does not require much time.

Here are some tips for keeping your furniture fabric in top condition:

  • Buy a water repellent or stain guard spray to protect your upholstery from future staining. Go with that is marketed for upholstery as these won’t stain your fabric.
  • Vacuum your furniture frequently to avoid the buildup of dust and allergens.
  • Set up your furniture in such a way that it doesn’t come in direct contact with sunlight. Otherwise, the rays will fade your upholstery fabric.
  • Cover your furniture with a dust cloth if you are planning a long outing. It will prevent dust from infiltrating the fabric fibers in your absence.

If you are not sure about the stain and do not know how to handle it, your most convenient and right choice is to call a professional upholstery cleaning company!

My Cleaner, Inc. will inspect all problem areas. In most instances 100%, stain removal achieved. We provide upholstery cleaning in Cape Coral and nearby areas. We also provide other cleaning services like Carpet Cleaning, Air Duct Cleaning, Area Rug Cleaning, Tile & grout cleaning and Pet Stain and Odor Removal.
